Shower doors

Glass in bathrooms and showers adds visual accents, improves lighting in what are typically small and dark spaces, and is a low-maintenance and cleaner alternative to shower curtains.

Shower doors and enclosures made from safe, tempered glass are available in framed and unframed (seamless) designs to achieve maximum beauty and durability.

Frameless or framed shower doors and enclosures can be customized to fit the unique space and shape of your bathroom.

Small upgrade translates to a Big Improvement. Glass shower doors and enclosures will pay off in increased property value. This simple upgrade adds a touch of elegance and luxury to any home.

Low-maintenance solution. Traditional shower curtains breed mildew and mold and keeping them clean requires a lot of maintenance. Glass shower doors installed by Maryland Glass Installation are low maintenance, resistant to modl and mildew, and easy to clean with every-day cleaners.

shower Design tips

Before you begin a project with Maryland Glass Installation, LLC we will ask you to consider the following tips to consider for your project.

Pitch bench seats downward – If you are building bench seats in your shower, make sure that they are pitched slightly downward, so water runs towards the drain.

Use wood blocking on the wall where your shower door will be hinged – you need extra support for a swinging glass door.

Think about where you want your towel bars to go – if towel bars are near the door, you will need to adjust your shower glass design so the door doesn’t hit the towel bars.

Silicone caulking – always use 100% silicone mildew-resistant caulking at all corners where grout will tend to get hairline cracks. Caulk should be inspected annually for cracks and reapplied when necessary.

Recessed niche shelves – recessed niches in a shower are both functional and visually appealing and they give you a decorative place to put shampoo, soap, and razors.

shower Design tips

Let your tile shine – If you have beautiful tile in your shower, the last thing you want to do is make it look slightly green. Standard “clear” glass has a natural slight green tint. Choose low-iron glass for your shower. Low-iron glass has no tint.

Don’t forget the lighting – adequate lighting is essential for great ambiance.

Use granite or Corian curbs instead of tile – aside from the aesthetic value, it reduces the number of grout joints that can collect grime and cause leaks.

Light versus dark grout color – darker colored grout will hide dirt better than light grout.

Handheld shower heads – we recommend using handheld shower heads to help keep the shower area and glass clean.
